Our Community Need

Every two years, Komen Iowa is required by Komen Headquarters to complete a Community Profile assessment and report.

The purpose of the Community Profile is to provide a thorough needs assessment of breast health services in the Affiliate service area so we can understand the populations to be served, the access, the location, and the barriers to services and any other gaps that might be evident. By detailing the state of breast cancer in the SA, this report will help guide priority efforts to meet needs and close gaps in services that will improve the quality of care received by all. The Community Profile will help the SE Iowa Affiliate establish focused granting priorities, target education activities, drive public policy efforts, strengthen partnerships and sponsorships, and establish direction for marketing and outreach.

The Community Profile also helps the Affiliate identify a long-term vision for the work to be done in the service area. Understanding current needs helps balance priorities with available staff and volunteer resources so that realistic action plans are created and can be achieved.

The 2011 Community Profile report has recently been completed and can be downloaded by clicking here.
